![]() Some of you may have read this at some point but I thought as a first blog post (after losing over 500 posts-it happens) this would be fun. I was walking around Surtex and saw Cherish. I called out and it was as though no time had passed. I have been in the same space with her through the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) and FB etc. We had met before. Well, she is a star here…! It started then. She told me about her concept and what she was doing and I WAS ALL IN immediately. Anything that this talented and dedicated woman was doing was fine with me. I felt it an honor to be asked to be a part. ALSC has helped me gain perspective on the industry and learn what I call the “feel” of what art licensing is. I’ve met agents and art directors that I may not have met on my own. Maybe eventually but here they are all in one place. I as I am the question machine, I can ask away. Safety in numbers? You bet. All the work that an artist puts up on ALSC is protected and lives in this awesome private place. I send artwork to art directors and agents with ease. It’s user friendly for them and anything to create a kinder space for their workday is always a win. I can’t imagine the 1,000s of images that roll by their eyes each month. Because it’s digital uploading my work is easier than ever to show and now we have the bulk upload action. Cherish has thought of everything and she takes all our conversations into account with service as her mantra. There is also the networking with other artists and the many groups that I have been able to join. You can share work and get feedback from some of the groups and also from others if you care to go directly to them. While this is a membership community the very affordable and reasonable investment is just that. It’s an investment in yourself, your work, your network and your progress. It’s been that for me and if you know me I only support what I like, love or do myself. LOVE BEING IN ALSC and I am doing more and more to support its efforts, my work and the community. Speaking of membership, there are over 700 members at this time who are taking advantage of this stellar opportunity to have their work protected while snippets of it are marketed through monthly challenges. Outstanding opportunity. I’m standing with my arms raised in victory. Can I hear a YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY…? There are 27 groups within the community including, but not limited to Calls for Submissions, Greeting Cards with the wonderful Susan January of Leanin’ Tree and lots of others. The 2nd Thursday Chat, put together by Annie Troe, gets together every month on…guess what…2nd Thursdays. I am honored to help out with this. It’s an energetic and fact filled hour sprinkled with some fun. Seriously, where would I be without a laugh? The chats are then placed into pdfs and you can keep this information tucked into your computer. I have gone back to them often to gather information or refer to something. The value here is amazing. Head over to artlicensingshow.com if you are an artist, agent, art director...hey...just head over.
